I am a member of the Buffalo Amateur Radio Repeater Association (BARRA) Technical Committee. Ted Ertel, WA2HKS, TC Chair, and I would like to investigate integrating a DR-1X System Fusion repeater into the linked BARRA systems, possibly as part of the existing WA2HKS/R 449/444.00 repeater.
WA2HKS/R is located on the Main Street campus of the State University of New York at Buffalo and provides a wide Western NY and Southern Ontario coverage area. The repeater has a six-site voted receiver system, a second GPS synced transmitter at the Boston site, a backup transmitter, and backup battery power. It is a versatile and reliable machine providing linking capabilities to other repeaters and Echolink. The equipment at this site is almost entirely home-brew; from controller to most of the RF components. Ted Ertl, WA2HKS, has constructed or specially modified every piece of equipment associated with this site.
Because the UB and the Boston site are almost entirely home-brew, integrating a DR-1X will not be a simple plug and play process and as such we need more technical details, as might be available in a service manual or at least a detailed block diagram and/or schematic. Is there some way we can obtain PDFs of these? If necessary, Ted and I are willing to sign non-disclosure agrements to obtain DR-1X technical documentation.

Last year there were rumors that you were considering a change to the external controller interface on the DR-1X. Someone that recently received a DR-1X commented that the controller interface appears to have changed. Has it changed, what was the change, and how can it be applied retroactively to the DR-1X we received last month.
Thanks / 73

Not much has changed, the reliability has just increased significantly. All of the signals are the same as presented in the manual.
The latest firmware is available from http://www.yaesu.com under the “Files” Section on the DR-1X Page.
